An acute service based in Kildare is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Physiotherapist (Respiratory) to join its dynamic acute services team. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality respiratory physiotherapy services across inpatient wards, including acute medical, respiratory, and critical care settings as required.
This is an excellent opportunity for a clinician with strong acute respiratory experience who is passionate about evidence-based practice, multidisciplinary collaboration, and service development within a busy hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities of the Senior Physiotherapist:
- Provide advanced respiratory physiotherapy assessment and treatment to patients in acute and subacute settings
- Manage a complex caseload including patients with acute and chronic respiratory conditions
- Contribute to early supported discharge planning and patient flow initiatives
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team including consultants, nursing staff, and allied health professionals
- Supervise and support staff grade physiotherapists and students
- Participate in weekend and on-call respiratory rotas where required
- Maintain high standards of documentation and clinical governance
- Contribute to service development, audit, and quality improvement initiatives
Essential Criteria for the Senior Physiotherapist:
- BSc (or equivalent) in Physiotherapy
- Current CORU registration
- Minimum of three years post-qualification experience, with significant experience in acute respiratory physiotherapy
- Demonstrated experience working in an acute hospital setting
- Strong clinical reasoning and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and team-working abilities
Desirable Criteria
- Experience in critical care or high-dependency respiratory services
- Postgraduate training in respiratory physiotherapy or a related area
- Experience supervising junior staff and students
